CD Baby: Revenue & Royalty Reports Guide

Overview

CD Baby provides detailed sales, streaming, and publishing royalty accounting through the CD Baby Account Dashboard. The platform separates direct CD Baby store sales from digital distribution (DD) partner statements and publishing royalty administration reports.

Prerequisites & Account Access

  • Account Tiers: Available to all CD Baby Standard, Pro Publishing, and Label account holders.
  • Required Roles: Account Owner (primary login with payout privileges).
  • Portal Link: Log in directly via the CD Baby Members Portal.

How to Access & Download Revenue Reports

  • Pro Publishing Royalty Reports: For song composition and publishing mechanical/performance income.

4.Set Parameters & Download:Filter & Export.

Understanding CD Baby Report Metrics & Schedules

  • Reporting Delay: Partner digital stores (Apple Music/iTunes, Amazon Music, Spotify) do not report earnings in real time. Official accounting statement postings take between 1 to 3 months from the date of consumption.
  • Daily Trending Analytics: To monitor immediate performance prior to official monthly accounting, access the Trending Reports tab in your dashboard for near-real-time estimates from key partners.
  • Pro Publishing .txt Import: Publishing statements download as delimited .txt files. When opening in Excel or Google Sheets, use the Import Data function and choose “Tab Delimited” to ensure columns align properly.

Troubleshooting & Pro-Tips

  • Payable vs. Gross Take-Away: When evaluating track profitability, check the Unit Rate column against QTY to verify net revenue per stream or download unit after store commission fees.
  • Payee Thresholds: Earnings from finalized monthly statements accumulate in your CD Baby account balance until your configured Payout Threshold ($10 to $10,000) is reached.
