We provide music distribution companies and record labels with verified data on artists and independent labels and distributors.
The music industry has become oversaturated with releases.

We welcome the resurgence of independent artists, but we understand the ability of labels and distributors to filter and sort through a never-ending list of artists has become an overwhelming process.

Most companies are looking at the same lists of artists through the same platforms. With everyone looking at the same data, companies have two options, risk investing into an artist at the early stage of their career or wait until the artist has become an independent star and possibly over-pay to outbid a competing label. Weekly communication with our partners allow us to provide key data that can be utilize in determining a deal proposal for artists/clients.

What does Red Octave do for independent artists and labels?

We provide independent artists and labels with options to successfully release new music, including tools and label services, whether independently or with a distribution partner or record label.
Many artists are looking to release music independently with hopes of going viral or landing a hit with the possibility of partnering with a distribution company or signing with a record label. With every artist having access to the same platforms, navigating through the oversaturated music industry can hopeless. We aim to connect artists with catalog to a partner that suites their needs.
Once we confirm your available catalog and revenue, we can discuss your options for leveraging your catalog and/or new releases. For those who wish to remain independent or who have just started their music journey, we can provide marketing services and tools that you can use to maximize your new releases.

How Did We Begin?

As the music industry started transitioning from physical to digital sales, Octavius Crouch began to see the writing on the wall. During this time, he was an A&R at Universal Records, part of the A&R team that oversaw Cash Money. As Cash Money gave birth to Lil Wayne’s Young Money, which included superstars Drake and Nicki Minaj, artist discovery, sales, and marketing were rapidly changing at Universal and industry-wide.

After leaving Universal Records, Crouch co-owned LO Agency, a booking agency, and learned the booking model for touring. Relationships with CAA, WMA and ICM allowed him to understand the power of touring. LO Agency coordinated events and tours for artists and celebrities including Kim Kardashian, Ludacris, Young Jeezy, Jason Derulo, and more.
The industry embraced streaming over digital sales of music, and social media started becoming the go-to platform for discovering new artists. As Crouch became a consultant to artists and labels, Red Octave was born. Working closely with independent artists, Crouch learned how artists can use services similar to major-label artists.
The industry once again was on the verge of a new era: independent artists leveraging their masters. The artist of today has more education in owning and leveraging their masters than artists of the past. The need for label-like services was in high demand, thus ushering in the resurgence of distribution companies. Octavius landed a Senior Client Manager and A&R position. Managing clients’ releases between hip-hop, pop, dance, R&B, and rock, Octavius learned the relationship between record labels and distribution companies.
Record labels and distributors complement each other as most artists use distribution companies as an entry into the music industry and record ultimately signing artists as they outgrow their distributor. Distribution is built on volume and record labels are built on hits. With the high volume of artists (also referred to as clients) in the distribution industry, discovering new clients has become a time-consuming and daunting task. It was at this time, that Octavius the need for data and software to simplify this process.

Red Octave evolved into a research and development company fulfilling the needs for two areas: providing verified data of clients for labels and distributors and providing label services and distribution options for independent artists and labels.
